It may seem like an exaggeration, but our skincare routine is EVERYTHING. How we treat our skin affects how our makeup looks and how we age. It also helps us from troublesome skin issues and can lessen signs of skin discoloration. But with all the products on the market and each cream and wash serving a different purpose, it’s hard to keep it all straight.

To help you out, I have put together a short list that will help you master a daily skincare regimen that will make you look and feel like a more beautiful you!

1. Rinse makeup and toxins off at the end of the day: 

The liver filters the blood of anything potentially harmful to the body such as chemicals, toxins and pesticides. Skincare products, especially for women, can be a large source of daily chemicals entering the bloodstream. Switching to a non-toxic skincare regimen is the first step to relieving skin problems.

Spreading chemicals on our skin puts a large burden on your liver. If your detoxification channels are overworked, the toxins and chemical will eventually exit through the skin. Make sure you’re washing your face with a natural cleanser that will combat the wear and tear of environmental exposure and pollution while maintaining the skin’s moisture balance and pH.

2. Apply Eye Cream

According to Neal Schultz, M.D. “The skin of the eye is very different from most of the skin on the rest of the face. It’s thinner, more sensitive and has fewer oils and water glands, so it needs extra moisturization.”

Dark circles can be caused by sun damage, fatigue, stress, and dehydration. When choosing an eye cream make sure you choose one that is not only free from harmful chemicals, but is made from ingredients that naturally contain antioxidants, peptides, and essential fatty acids.


But seriously, MOISTURIZE every day, and do it the right way! With your face still damp, pump a small amount of product into your hand and distribute across your face using upward strokes and concentrating on fine lines and wrinkles.

Make sure you are using a daily moisturizer that contains a rich supply of antioxidants so you can help fight that free oxygen radicals that directly contribute to skin aging. I prefer to use a lightweight oil based serum, as they typically do not contain harsh preservatives that are present in most creams. Moisturizing your face will give you softer, more elastic skin that will make you look and feel young for years to come!

4. Don’t forget your neck!

When you take care of your face, don’t stop at the chin: As most women grow older they tend to lose fat around the neck, eyes and cheeks. As the fat content decreases in these areas so does the level of support for the skin, resulting in sagging skin around the neck and throat that is sometimes referred to as “turkey neck.

 Make sure you are caring for your neck in the same way you do your face. Apply sunscreen to protect the skin from UV rays, and be sure to use a neck treatment that is flooded with vitamins and tightening ingredients to kick that “turkey neck” to the curb. Remember to keep gravity on your side by applying the cream using upward strokes on your neck and décolleté.
